Conference Alignment Information

Posted July 9, 2025

As many of you know, changes are happening in our current conference, the Hawkeye 10, prompting important discussions about the future of Lewis Central’s conference affiliation.

In June, the Missouri River Conference (MRC), which includes schools from Council Bluffs and the Sioux City area, formally invited Lewis Central to join their conference. This opportunity brings differences in competition, scheduling, travel, and more compared to the Hawkeye 10.

Lewis Central’s administration is carefully reviewing the details from both the Hawkeye 10 and MRC conferences to provide the Board of Education with all the information needed to make the best decision for our students and community.

For a detailed comparison of competition, scheduling, travel, and other factors, check out our comparison information document.

The District sent out surveys this summer to parents, students, staff, and community members to gather their feedback to present to the School Board.

Additionally, the Lewis Central Board of Education hosted a listening session on Monday, July 21st at 6:00 p.m. to hear directly from the community and our stakeholders. A decision will be made on conference alignment by the Board during the board meeting on Monday, August 18th.
