What Students Are Learning
UFLI: A strong foundation in phonics supports reading grade-level text with fluency and accuracy. The end-of-the-year reading screener tests sight word fluency, fluency in blending sounds to read short vowel nonsense words, and reading multiple grade-level passages for one minute.
Reading: Our final text set of the year will include an author study on Vera Williams. A great way to stay sharp over the summer is to read multiple books by your favorite author.
Writing: Through classroom experiences related to science, students will have the opportunity to write like scientists by:
- Making scientific observations
- Writing predictions and recording facts
- Making sketches and diagrams with labels
- Writing down questions and wonderings
Math: In our final unit, we will revisit fluency with addition and subtraction within 10, solve story problems, and demonstrate understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction, represent 2-digit numbers using tens and one and organize, count, and represent groups of objects up to 120.
Don't Forget
- See SeeSaw for specific times for the Ice Cream Party in your child's classroom.
- Mr. S will send more information about field day, including times for parents to arrive.
- The last day of school is an early out. Dismissal is at 2 p.m.
- End of the year assesment reports will be mailed home with report cards. Make sure we have your current mailing address.
