Literacy
During classroom story time, we will read several books written by Kevin Henkes and will also explore fiction and nonfiction books. To foster a love of reading at home, you can read aloud daily to your child. Make reading a consistent and enjoyable routine by choosing fun and interesting books and talking about what you read.
Writing
We have had many lessons on the writing process and conventions of writing. Our next unit focuses on writing narratives. Students will recall small moments from their lives and write memory stories.
UFLI (Phonics)
We are wrapping up our lessons on short vowels and moving on to learning all about consonant diagraphs and spelling rules.
Math
Unit 2
Students solve story problems within 10 and learn new ways to think about adding and subtracting. They develop an understanding of the equal sign and connect story problems to equations.
