Jonas Sauser, LCHS sophomore, holding his second place award from the SkillsUSA welding competition.

LCHS sophomore Jonas Sauser recently showcased his skills at the SkillsUSA district individual welding competition held at Southwest Iowa Community College—and came away with an impressive 2nd place finish.

The competition brought together talented student welders from across the area, with only the top 15 competitors earning a spot at the state level. Jonas’ strong performance not only qualified him for the next round but also highlighted the dedication, precision, and technical skill he brings to his craft.

By placing 2nd, Jonas will advance to the SkillsUSA State Competition in Des Moines on March 5–6. There, he will compete against top students from across Iowa for the opportunity to qualify for the national competition.

We are proud of Jonas for representing Lewis Central so well and wish him the best of luck as he continues his SkillsUSA journey at the state level. Congratulations, Jonas!
