LCHS Students Attend the FCCLA State Conference

Posted April 1, 2026
Last week, the spirit of leadership and culinary excellence took center stage in Cedar Rapids as three of our high school students, Blake Hill, Evelyn Duitsman, and Vesper Hanson, attended the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) State Conference.
Our students had the unique opportunity to meet with state officers, gaining valuable insights into leadership and the future of the organization.
We want to extend a special round of applause to Vesper Hanson, who participated in the "Pride of Iowa" event. This event challenges students to craft a menu that highlights the rich agricultural heritage of our state. Vesper’s award-winning presentation featured a classic Iowa meal of crispy oven-fried pork tenderloin, a side of sweet corn, and a scotcheroo for dessert. Her precision in the kitchen and dedication to local flavors impressed the judges, earning her 3rd Place in the State!
