What We're Learning
Music - Ms. O'Connell
The students have learned to play so many instruments! We are using those to practice keeping a steady beat and to accompany songs. They are also exploring how to respond to musical ideas through movement, and how to best use their voices to sing!
Art - Mrs. POwers
Thank you for the donations to the art room! We have been exploring lots of materials like scissors, oil pastels, and markers while learning rules and procedures. We are also starting to paint! Please remember to wear old clothes on art days.
PE - Mr. S
The school year is off to a great start in P.E.! We are currently practicing the underhand throw through a variety of fun games. If you would like to help your child practice this skill at home, here is what we are focusing on in class:
- Kindergarten: Remembering to step forward with the opposite foot.
- First Grade: Focus on following through after releasing the ball.
Thank you for supporting your child's physically active habits at home!
Library - Mrs. Nightser + Mrs. B
In the library, we are learning all about the parts of books, how to take care of books, and how to love books even more! We are reading books together by Mo Willems in kindergarten and by Kevin Henkes in first grade. Ask your child how to keep his or her book safe at home.
Classroom Counseling - Ms. Krajicek
K and 1st grade students are finishing up Unit 1 learning in Second Step about Growth Mindset & Goal-Setting. Students have learned to name/show behaviors that help them pay attention, name “practice” as a way to get better at something, and use positive self-talk when a mistake happens.
