Support LCHS's Growing Welding Program with Scrap Metal Donations!

Posted September 29, 2025

Lewis Central High School is excited to be in its second year of offering welding courses to our students—and we need your help to keep the sparks flying! Our welding program now includes six different courses, five of which are concurrent enrollment classes with Iowa Western Community College. This means our students gain valuable college credits while still in high school.

We currently have 80 students enrolled in four welding courses this semester, all eager to develop hands-on skills that will prepare them for future careers. To support their learning, we are seeking scrap metal donations to use as practice materials in our welding classes.

If you have scrap metal to donate, we’re more than happy to come to your location to pick it up. Plus, if you’d like your scrap returned after we’ve used it for welding projects, we will gladly do so.

By donating scrap metal, you are directly investing in the education and skill development of our students here at Lewis Central. Your generosity helps provide the resources they need to succeed.

Interested in donating or want to learn more? Please contact our welding instructor, Mr. Schmit, at james.schmit@lewiscentral.org or call 402-340-7775.

Thank you for supporting Lewis Central High School’s welding program and helping shape the future of our students!
