2025 Swimming Lessons
2025 Swimming lesson registration will take place on Saturday, May 24, from 8:00 am - 11:00 am in person at the Titan Hill pool. Swimming lessons will run June 2-12, June 16-26, or July 7-17, with sessions happening at 10:00 am and 11:00 am. Please print out and bring the 2025 Swim Lesson Registration Form on May 24.
Lewis Central Swimming Lesson Curriculum
Level I — Introduction to the Water
This swimming class is an introduction to the water for young children who have never had swim lessons, may have a fear of the water, and are not tall enough to touch the bottom of our 3 ½ ft. shallow end of the pool.
Prerequisite: 3 years of age
Level II — Beginning Swimming Skills
This class is a beginning class for teaching swimmers independent locomotive & survival swimming skills on their front and back.
Prerequisite: Children in this class should be at least 5 years old; should be able to stand and play in the shallow end of our pool (3 ½ ft.) and not have a fear of submerging, but cannot yet swim independently on front or back.
Level III — Swimming Readiness
This class is for children who are ready to learn the fundamentals of swimming independently. Children will learn the techniques for swimming the front crawl (freestyle) with a rhythmic breathing pattern, the competitive backstroke, and the elementary backstroke. Children will also learn some survival skills, such as treading water and floating on their front and back.
Prerequisite: The swimmer must be able to swim independently for 15 feet on their front and back. They must also be able to independently tread water and float in deep water for at least 10 seconds.
Level IV — Stroke Development
This class is designed to improve the swimmer's endurance in the Front Crawl (Freestyle) and the Backstroke, as well as some advanced survival skills. This class will also introduce and develop the techniques needed to correctly perform the breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly.
Prerequisite: The swimmer must be able to swim front crawl (freestyle) for 15 yards with a rhythmic breathing pattern and swim 15 yards of backstroke. They must also be able to comfortably tread water and to float on their back for at least 30 seconds in deep water.
Competitive Swimming
Lewis Central Summer League Swim Team
Each summer, Lewis Central will host a summer league swim team that competes with summer league teams within the Southwestern Iowa and Northeastern Nebraska area. The swim team is open to swimmers of all ages (8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18). Swim meets are primarily on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Qualifications: Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards).
Team Practices: Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am - 9:45 am at the Titan Hill Swimming Pool
Cost: $85 for the summer season

Council Bluffs Swim Club
The Council Bluffs Swim Club is a year-round competitive swim club that is a sanctioned member of United States Swimming. The team's summer season is May through July, and the Fall/Winter Season is from September through March. For further swim club information, contact Bruce Schomburg at the Council Bluffs Swim Club.
Lewis Central High School Swimming
The LC Titans have a high school competitive swim team for both the girls and the boys. The High School girls’ swimming season is in the fall each school year, and the boys' season is in the winter.
