Nutrition

Studies show that good nutrition helps student learning, decreases absences, and improves behaviors.  At Lewis Central Community Schools, our students have the opportunity to taste new foods that are low in fat, sugar, and sodium but high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These experiences are created by offering fresh vegetables, made-from-scratch entrees, and fat-free milk options every day.  Nutrition education empowers students to select and enjoy healthy foods while learning about lowering their risks of chronic diseases and developing healthy lifestyles. We believe nutrition education is crucial to the well-being of every child.

School Fundraisers

Fundraising helps student clubs, athletics, and classes raise money for school-related activities.  However, fundraising should follow the spirit of the district's Wellness Policy to promote healthy lifestyles.  According to USDA regulations, foods sold on school premises during the school day, including 30 minutes after the final bell, are to meet the Smart Snack guidelines. Please contact the Nutrition Services office to find out if your fundraiser food items meet the Smart Snack guidelines.  There are many non-food fundraiser ideas that are fun for everyone.  Here are some ideas for your next school fundraiser.
